The Mission
I’ve come on today to share my mission with you. I’m on a mission to make sure everyone has a will ( or has at least thought about it a little bit).
I would like to live in a world where everyone has thought of their future, and more than just in passing…
I’m an estate planner, and nothing makes me happier than when people have thought about the future, how they’d like it to be, and then taken steps to make it happen.
Of course, I’m talking about estate planning here.
Meaning: you’ve thought about and then taken action to write down instructions to those you’ve left behind, about how you want things to be – at least as it comes to your property and what happens to it.
After all, (and as they say) – “you can’t take it with you…”
Accomplishing my Mission
So, how am I going to accomplish my mission you might ask?
Well, the first step is to come here and appeal to you all to set aside some time to think about your future, and even your demise. Just think about it. Spend some time.
And then, realize that it can’t happen if you don’t make it happen.
Take some action.
See an attorney to draft an estate plan – even just a simple will.
Believe me, you will not regret it – and your heirs will thank you for it.
You see, with that simple action you took – you can not only set in motion a plan to shape the future toward the way you want it…
You are also, at the same time, saving your family from lots of difficulty…
- Figuring out what you would have wanted
- Going to court
- Possibly some in-fighting – because, let’s face it, they need you to tell them what you would have wanted.
And, you want all of this done legal – do it so it stands up to scrutiny.
Make sure you see a lawyer and have these documents drawn up the right way.
So this is the first step – me actually appealing to you. The second step is in your hands…
