With the economy and the employment rate doing relatively well, the number of total bankruptcies has continued to trend down across the country, and here in western Washington. There was a decrease of 6.4% in the number of July 2017 Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases opened in western Washington as compared with June 2017. Nationwide, the number of consumer cases declined by 8% from June to July 2017.
