The Strengths of Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy Strengths
Reduce or eliminate debt

Bankruptcy is one of the most powerful tools for people that are looking up from a large pile of debt, and they have no idea how to approach it. If this sounds like you, here is a short list of the potential bankruptcy strengths that may be of use to you:

  • Get a Fresh Start! You can eliminate the legal obligation to pay most, if not all, of your debts. This is usually accomplished under Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and is also know as a “straight bankruptcy” or a “fresh start” bankruptcy. You may get to keep most, if not all of your property as it is likely protected under “exemptions.”
  • Keep your property! You can save your house or your car. Stop the foreclosure or repossession. Many folks are most worried about keeping their house and/or their car. In most cases, you can do this in Bankruptcy. Depending on the situation, this can be done in either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. If the creditor has already repossessed your car, you may be able to get it back if you act quickly. If you owe, you would have to make some sort of payments to keep these things, however.
  • Relief from debt collectors! You can stop those extremely intrusive debt collectors in their tracks. The “automatic stay” generally kicks in at the moment Westward LAW files your bankruptcy petition for you.
  • Fight back against creditors! If a creditor is trying to load up your debt with fees or otherwise defraud you, or are arguing that you owe more than you think you do, you can limit the amount they get to only what is due to them under the law and nothing more.
  • Stop the wage garnishment! Even after it has begun, you can stop the wage garnishment, and in many cases, Westward LAW can get the money back for you.
  • Restore your utilities! Get the power or the water turned back on if the utility company has shut you off.
